2NE1 PROFILE


2NE1 is South Korea girl group from YG Entertainment one of the largest entertainment companies in Asia.  The same agency with Bigbang. 2NE1 name is combines the phrases "21st century" and "new evolution". “NE” meaning “New Evolution” and “21” standing for the “21st Century". 2NE1 can be pronounced as to anyone or twenty one. 2NE1 orginally 21 but due to the discovery of a singer with the same name they renamed it to 2NE1.  2NE1 members consisting of leader CL, Bom, Dara, and maknae Minzy. In late 2005, YG Entertainment announced it will release a four-member girl group of people and will debut in 2009. They were described as the female Bigbang by YG Entertainment. 



On March 27, 2009 CF 2NE1 released the song "Lollipop" with labelmate BIGBANG them for LG Electronics to promote their Cyon phone. The next day they released the music video. On May 6, 2009 2NE1 released their single debut title "Fire", the song was written and produced by 1TYM's Teddy Park. Fire was released with two versions of the Space's music video version and the Street's music video version. On May 17, 2009 2NE1 debuted on stage with their single debuted "Fire" at SBS Inkigayo. On July 7, 2009 after the successful debut, they released mini album called "2NE1" with their second single 'I Don't Care'. On July 10, 2009 2NE1 began their promotion at KBS Music Bank.




In August, after finishing "I Don't Care" promotions, 2NE1 took a temporary hiatus with each member releasing their solo singles to unveil their talents and styles. On September 6, 2009 Dara released her first digital single titled "Kiss". The song featured her labelmate CL as a rapper and was used in a commercial for CF Beer. After Dara,  CL collaborated with Minzy for their single "Please Don't Go". The last, Bom released single "You and I". On September 9, 2010 2NE1 released their first studio album called "To Anyone". YG Entreteiment announced that three songs from it would be used as lead tracks, these being "Can't Nobody", "Go Away" and "Clap Your Hand". This kind of promotion made 2NE1 the first Korean artists to promote three songs at once. On November 26, 2010 2NE1 released the single "Don't Stop the Music" as a special gift for Thailand fans and was used for the Yamaha Fiore Promo Version in Thailand.



In 2011, 2NE1 debut in Japan. On March 16, 2011 2NE1 released "2NE1" their first Japanese mini album with no promotions because of the Tōhoku Earthquake and tsunami, 2NE1 initially planned to make their official Japanese debut live on Music Station. On April 18, 2011 2NE1 announced their Korean comeback with their mini album "2NE1 2nd Mini Album". On May 12, 2011 2NE1 released their single " Lonely" and on June 24, 2011 they released I Am The Best. On July 28, 2011 along with the release of the full mini-album, the single "Ugly" and its music video were released. In September 2011, 2NE1 made their official debut in Japan with their mini album called "NOLZA". On November 18, 2011 they also released the Japanese version of "Go Away". On March 28, 2012 2NE1 released their first full-length Japanese album called "Collection". On July 5, 2012 2NE1 made their Korea comeback with their new single I Love You.
